Are you working in a commercial company that has yet to install LED lighting? If you are not the decision-maker yourself, you should definitely forward this blog post to the right person ASAP. LED lighting will save any company money, and can even improve the company brand.
Commercial LED lighting is unavoidable in the continuous debate about energy efficiency, emissions and CSR initiatives. A complete conversion from traditional lighting to LED lighting can actually add value to a company’s CSR profile, as it is a proactive initiative to reduce the carbon dioxide footprint of the company. Comparing LEDs with another source of light typically used by commercial companies, like the halogen bulb, the benefits will be both clear and tangible. Converting to LEDs from halogen bulbs, you are ensured an energy saving of no less than 60 %.
And how can that be? Well, unlike the halogen and incandescent technology, the LED technology is constantly developing and therefore also getting improved today. The incandescent bulb has not been developed for many years, and has indeed been overtaken and left behind by several other sources of light. Only approximately 10 % of the electricity fed to an incandescent bulb is converted into light, whereas the rest is wasted on heat emission. The heat makes the bulb untouchable, and will increase the energy usage on air-conditioning, as it heats up the room in which it is installed.
Commercial LED lighting is also beneficial to companies because of its long lifespan, which reduces maintenance costs over time. The lifespan of an LED is typically no shorter than 50,000 hours and hereby about 30 times longer than a halogen bulb. The long lifespan means that a company can focus on what they do best, instead of using time and resources on replacing bulbs and tubes.
